Why is this happening now?
The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has advised Camplify that we are required to report the income of platform users in accordance with the Sharing Economy Reporting Regime (SERR). Learn more about the ATO SERR update here.
What income reporting periods does Camplify cover?
The first reporting period required by the ATO is from 1 July 2024 to 31 December 2024. Moving forward, Camplify must report twice a year for the following periods:

1 July to 31 December – Report due by 31 January of the following year.

1 January to 30 June – Report due by 31 July of that year.
Will income from past financial years be reported?
No. Camplify is only reporting income starting from 1 July 2024. Future reporting will continue every six months as required under the SERR regulations.
What details will Camplify report to the ATO?
Camplify is required to provide the following information:
1. Account Holder Information
For individual account owners (e.g., sole traders):

For non-individual account owners (e.g., companies, trusts, partnerships):

Entity’s full legal name

2. Vehicle Information

3. Transaction Information

Whether your account was active for the full or part of the reporting period.

If you joined Camplify during this period, the date your vehicle listing went live.

If you left Camplify during this period, the date you closed your account.

Number of supplies (hires) during the reporting period, including any cancellations where you received a payment.

Total gross income earned (including GST, fees, and Camplify commissions) for the reporting period.

Fees and commissions withheld by Camplify (GST inclusive).
Will I have to pay tax on my Camplify earnings?
Camplify cannot provide tax advice. For any questions regarding your personal or business tax obligations, we recommend consulting an accountant.
How can Camplify report my income if they don’t have my TFN?
Camplify is not required to collect or report your Tax File Number (TFN) under the SERR regulations.
Do I need to update my details with Camplify?
While Camplify will use the details you’ve already provided, we recommend checking and updating your information, particularly new fields like state of registration. Keeping your details up to date ensures accurate reporting to the ATO.
The first reporting deadline is 31 January 2025, but please ensure your details are updated by 17 January 2025 to allow us time to prepare and submit the report.
Will Camplify withhold tax from my earnings?
No, Camplify will not withhold any amounts for tax purposes. Managing your tax obligations is your responsibility. Please consult your accountant to ensure you are reporting your income correctly.
What happens if my vehicle is managed by an RV Manager?
Camplify is only required to report payments made to the person receiving the funds. If payments are made directly to an RV Manager, Camplify is not required to report the vehicle owner separately.
What income will Camplify report?
Camplify will report the total gross income earned during the reporting period. This includes:

GST, fees, and commissions.

The total income from bookings, minus any refunds.
All amounts will be reported in Australian dollars (AUD).
Will Camplify provide me with a summary of my reported payments?
Yes, Camplify will provide a summary of the payments made to you. However, this is not the full ATO report. The ATO will receive the detailed information directly from Camplify.
